There is a feast waiting . . .
“And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ But the father said to his slaves, Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.” Luke 15:21-24
Maybe you’ve been running. Maybe you’ve just stopped listening to the Lord. Maybe you’ve become complacent. And maybe now you’re realizing the effects of what you’ve done and you’re broken or overwhelmed and you feel like you don’t know what to do or that you are trapped or stuck and you can’t come back. But you can. And that’s all it takes. Just come home. Just let go of everything you’ve been clinging to and come home. You will be welcomed with joy and open arms. Just come home and rest in the Lord, in the precious, open, warm, and waiting arms of the Father. You don’t have to do anything, but just come. Come home. Come home running.
Come and allow the Father to remove the burden of the filthy rags from your shoulders and replace them with a robe of righteousness and royalty because you are one of His children and He loves you and has cleansed you. Shake off the old, the dust, the dirt that you acquired in your running, turning from Him and rest in the clean, fresh covering of His righteousness. You are not trapped or stuck. You can come home and you don’t have to go down that path again. You are destined for more than that by your heavenly Father.
*So come home running
His arms are open wide
His name is Jesus
He is the answer
You are looking for
So come home running
Just as you are
Oh child of God so dearly loved
And ransomed by the Savior’s blood
And called by name, daughter and son
Wrapped in the robe of righteousness
